Given the importance of engineering medical equipment technologies and the requirements of the labour market, it was decided to create the Department of Medical Equipment Technology Engineering at the Middle East University College, and the approval of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research was obtained in 2022 on the decision to establish the department.

Vision:

Qualifying the student to be an applied engineer familiar with modern technologies in the field of medical device engineering. In addition to that, providing an academic environment and community services that keep pace with the rapid development in the field of medical devices, and provide the latest study programs to keep pace with the scientific departments corresponding to the Department of Medical Equipment Technology Engineering in reputable Arab and international universities.

Mission:

The mission of the Medical Equipment Technology Engineering Department is to provide an educational, technical and research environment for students through modern educational programs and curricula that demonstrate the importance of this specialization. Providing scientific curricula, scientific laboratories and advanced applied research to simulate the needs of the labour market, openness to health institutions, and contributing to improving the health situation at the international and regional levels.

Goal: 

• Providing the student with the scientific and applied skills to know medical devices.
• Graduating technical engineers who have the ability to be familiar with the parts of various medical devices. They have the ability to install, operate, maintain and program medical devices and their accessories (standard, diagnostic and therapeutic).
• To give the graduate the ability to have a detailed knowledge of all modern technologies in the field of medical device engineering.
• Developing the research and scientific-technical capabilities of the teachers and graduates, keeping pace with recent developments and urging the use of advanced methods in the areas of specialization.
• Working to establish solid and joint scientific and research relations with the corresponding departments in other universities through participation in seminars, courses and training workshops.
• Providing scientific, technical and research consultations for the departments in solving some scientific and specialized problems that some related institutions need.

After four academic years, a graduate of the department qualifies to obtain a bachelor’s degree in (medical equipment technology engineering) to be an applied engineer familiar with modern technologies in his field of specialization, the most important of which are:

• Installing and operating various types of electronic and electromechanical medical devices (standard, diagnostic and therapeutic).
• Scheduling and programming periodic maintenance work.
• Contributing and supervising the maintenance, maintenance and calibration of various medical devices.
• Design, development and trying to find alternatives for some parts related to medical devices.
